Are you a healthy tree in God’s kingdom?
Are you a healthy tree in God’s kingdom? As Christians we are to bring forth fruit in our lives, John 15:4-6 says “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” Only trees, that are healthy and growing, bear fruit. Just like a tree, we have to stay watered and nourished with time spent in the Word of God and prayer and allow it to produce the fruit of the Spirit in our life. The fruit, according to Galatians 5, is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. When a tree stops being watered it doesn’t dry up immediately. When you look at it you can’t even tell that there is anything wrong, at first. But over time the leaves becomes brown and brittle and eventually the tree dies. If your life has become dry spiritually, just repent, turn around and recommit to spending time daily in the Word and prayer. Soon healthy green branches will grow in your life and you will see the fruit of the Spirit springing forth! You’ve got His Word on it.
