Stay in Race!
Are you window shopping or running? Athletes who run down long streets, through cities where there are hundreds of store fronts that could distract them, block out the distractions by keeping the goal, the finish line in the forefront of their thoughts. If a marathon runner slows and stops to look into a store front, that person isn’t going to finish that race well. As believers we are in a race, but it’s possible to get distracted by things of this life and slow down to “window shop” instead of keeping in the race. Hebrews 12:1 says, ” Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” The word for “patience”, in the Greek, means to run with “cheerful endurance and constancy”. That means when distractions of this world start to draw us away from what God has asked us to do, we need to do what Jesus did, focus on the goal. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” When we stay focused on the finish line, and run with joyful endurance, we will reach greater heights in our life and receive the victor’s crown in the end. You have His Word on it! 😀
